Roscoe wasn't being protective because of the topic of conversation. He was being protective in case Dante decided to make a move on his girl. He noticed how she looked embarrassed but decided that nothing was more important than protecting his love. "Thanks, Kitten," he replied, smiling. Over the course of the rest of the day, she would find some things out about his brother.
Dante saw her eyes widen from his seat in the driver's side, and smiled sexily. He knew how shocked she was simply from her expression. His expression intensified as she got in quickly. He chuckled and spoke with a suave voice. "Scared you, have I? Or are you simply nervous?" Another chuckle, and Roscoe tightened his grip on his girlfriend.
Dante was a vampire, yes, but he was born with a 'special defect', as his Mama called it. He was born with the involuntary ability to be completely able to see during the day, but be blind as a bat whenever it got even a little bit dark. His mother taught him to never be out during the night, as it might end badly. The most he'd be able to see of the city was the bright lights, but even then, they'd be blurry as hell, as well as distracting. As for his sadness, he wouldn't have cared if she commented or not. He needed comfort from someone, and seeing as Roscoe was too busy tending to Andy to care, it seemed that he was all alone in this world. He waited until everyone had a seatbelt on - 'everyone' being Andy - and peeled out of the spot he'd parked in, headed towards the pet store.
